We are excited to announce KRPB - Radio in the Prairie, a new LPFM community radio station launching on air and online in 2026 that will celebrate and preserve the vibrant culture and resilience of the Atchafalaya region. This station will be a dynamic platform to amplify and archive the region’s unique music, foodways, languages, and histories — while sharing the dreams and visions of our community for the future.
But Radio in the Prairie is more than a cultural beacon. It will also provide essential programming to enhance understanding of science, weather, and the pressing environmental challenges we face in South Louisiana. Equipped with an onsite weather monitoring system, the station will deliver real-time weather updates and serve as a critical emergency communication hub during extreme weather events — offering timely information when it’s needed most.
Radio in the Prairie will broadcast in the Cecilia/Henderson/Arnaudville area and will also be available online.
We need your support to bring this vision to life! We already have been granted a FCC permit. Your contribution will help fund the equipment, infrastructure, and programming necessary to make Radio in the Prairie a reality. Together, we can build a station that not only celebrates the Atchafalaya’s rich heritage but also strengthens our community’s preparedness and resilience.
Donate today and help us create a voice for the Atchafalaya region — honoring its past, empowering its present, and inspiring its future. Let’s make waves together!
